महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-84, verse-66

सा समुत्सृज्य तं दुःखाद्दीप्तवैश्वानरप्रभम् ।
दर्शयामास चाग्निस्तां तदा गङ्गां भृगूद्वह ।
पप्रच्छ सरितां श्रेष्ठां कच्चिद्गर्भः सुखोदयः ॥६६॥
66. sā samutsṛjya taṁ duḥkhāddīptavaiśvānaraprabham ,
darśayāmāsa cāgnistāṁ tadā gaṅgāṁ bhṛgūdvaha ,
papraccha saritāṁ śreṣṭhāṁ kaccidgarbhaḥ sukhodayaḥ.
66. sā samutsṛjya tam duḥkhāt dīpta-vaiśvānara-prabham
darśayāmāsa ca agniḥ tām
tadā gaṅgām bhṛgūdvaha papraccha saritām
śreṣṭhām kaccit garbhaḥ sukha-udayaḥ

samutsṛjya ca tadā bhṛgūdvaha agniḥ
tām gaṅgām darśayāmāsa saritām śreṣṭhām

66. She, out of distress, discharged that fetus, which shone with the splendor of a blazing fire. Then, O descendant of Bhṛgu, Agni showed it (the fetus) to Gaṅgā and asked the foremost of rivers, 'Is the birth of the child auspicious?'
