महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-213, verse-11

यदि निर्जित्य वः पार्थो बलाद्गच्छेत्स्वकं पुरम् ।
प्रणश्येद्वो यशः सद्यो न तु सान्त्वे पराजयः ॥११॥
11. yadi nirjitya vaḥ pārtho balādgacchetsvakaṁ puram ,
praṇaśyedvo yaśaḥ sadyo na tu sāntve parājayaḥ.

praṇaśyet vaḥ yaśaḥ sadyaḥ na tu sāntve parājayaḥ
11. If Arjuna (pārtha), having conquered you all, forcibly goes to his own city, your fame (yaśas) would immediately perish. But there is no defeat in conciliation.
