मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-15, verse-80

एवमेते समाख्याता नरका द्विजसत्तम ।
येन येन च पापेन यां यां योनिमुपैति वै ॥८०॥
80. evamete samākhyātā narakā dvijasattama .
yena yena ca pāpena yāṃ yāṃ yonimupaiti vai.
80. evam ete samākhyātāḥ narakāḥ dvijasattama
yena yena ca pāpena yām yām yonim upaiti vai
80. O best among the twice-born, in this manner, these hells have been described, and also by which particular sin a person attains which particular state of existence (yoni).
