मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-15, verse-61

यज्ञ-दान-तपांसीह परत्र च न भूतये ।
भवन्ति तस्य यस्यार्त-परित्राणे न मानसम् ॥६१॥
61. yajña-dāna-tapāṃsīha paratra ca na bhūtaye .
bhavanti tasya yasyārta-paritrāṇe na mānasam.

61. Sacrifices (yajña), donations (dāna), and austerities (tapas) in this world and the next do not lead to well-being for one whose mind (mānasa) is not set on protecting the distressed.
