मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-15, verse-28

दुकूले शार्ङ्गकः पापो हृते चैवांशुके शुकः ।
तथैवाजाविकं हृत्वा वस्त्रं क्षौमं च जायते ॥२८॥
28. dukūle śārṅgakaḥ pāpo hṛte caivāṃśuke śukaḥ .
tathaivājāvikaṃ hṛtvā vastraṃ kṣaumaṃ ca jāyate.
28. dukūle śārṅgakaḥ pāpaḥ hṛte ca evam aṃśuke śukaḥ
tathā eva ajāvikaṃ hṛtvā vastraṃ kṣaumaṃ ca jāyate
28. When a silk garment (dukūla) is stolen, the sinful person is reborn as a śārṅgaka bird. When a fine cloth (aṃśuka) is stolen, one becomes a parrot (śuka). Similarly, a person who steals woolen garments (ajāvika) and linen (kṣauma) is also reborn [as an animal associated with these materials].
