मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-15, verse-60

धिक् तस्य जीवनं पुंसः शरणार्थिनमातुरम् ।
यो नार्तमनुगृह्णाति वैरिपक्षमपि ध्रुवम् ॥६०॥
60. dhik tasya jīvanaṃ puṃsaḥ śaraṇārthinamāturam .
yo nārtamanugṛhṇāti vairipakṣamapi dhruvam.
60. dhik tasya jīvanam puṃsaḥ śaraṇārthinam āturam
yaḥ na ārtam anugṛhṇāti vairipakṣam api dhruvam
60. Shame on the life of that person (puruṣa) who does not show compassion to a distressed one seeking refuge, even if that person (puruṣa) certainly belongs to the enemy's side.
