मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-15, verse-17

अकृतज्ञोऽधमः पुंसां विमुक्तो नरकान्नरः ।
कृतघ्रः कृमिकः कीटः पतङ्गो वृश्चिकस्तथा ॥१७॥
17. akṛtajño'dhamaḥ puṃsāṃ vimukto narakānnaraḥ .
kṛtaghraḥ kṛmikaḥ kīṭaḥ pataṅgo vṛścikastathā.
17. akṛtajñaḥ adhamaḥ puṃsām vimuktaḥ narakāt naraḥ
kṛtaghnaḥ kṛmikaḥ kīṭaḥ pataṅgaḥ vṛścikaḥ tathā
17. An ungrateful person (akṛtajña), the lowest among men, even if released from hell, is born as an ingrate (kṛtaghna), a worm, an insect, a moth, and a scorpion.
