मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-15, verse-30

जीवज्जीवकतां याति रक्तवस्त्रापहृन्नरः ।
छुच्छुन्दरिः शुभान् गन्धान् वासो हृत्वा शशो भवेत् ॥३०॥
30. jīvajjīvakatāṃ yāti raktavastrāpahṛnnaraḥ .
chucchundariḥ śubhān gandhān vāso hṛtvā śaśo bhavet.

chucchundariḥ śubhān gandhān vāsas hṛtvā śaśaḥ bhavet
30. A person who steals red garments (rakta-vastra) is reborn as a jīvaṃjīvaka bird. One who steals auspicious fragrances (gandha) becomes a muskrat (chucchundari). Having stolen clothing (vāsas), one becomes a hare (śaśa).
