The wise (paṇḍitāḥ) break apart an enemy (amitraṃ) who possesses many allies (mitrasaṃpannaṃ) by means of those very allies (mitraiḥ). Once the enemy is abandoned (parityaktaṃ) by his disunited (bhinnaiḥ) allies (mitraiḥ), one can bring the now weak (durbalaṃ) foe under one's control (kurute vaśe).
