महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-95, verse-53

ऋषय ऊचुः ।
केन क्षुधाभिभूतानामस्माकं पापकर्मणा ।
नृशंसेनापनीतानि बिसान्याहारकाङ्क्षिणाम् ॥५३॥
53. ṛṣaya ūcuḥ ,
kena kṣudhābhibhūtānāmasmākaṁ pāpakarmaṇā ,
nṛśaṁsenāpanītāni bisānyāhārakāṅkṣiṇām.
53. ṛṣayaḥ ūcuḥ kena kṣudhābhibhūtānām asmākam
pāpakarmaṇā nṛśaṃsena apanītāni bisāni āhārakāṅkṣiṇām
53. The sages said, "By whom, by what evil-doer, by what cruel one, have these lotus stalks been taken away from us, who are afflicted by hunger and longing for sustenance?"
