मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-75, verse-39

मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
ततः स चिन्तयामास राजा जामातृकारणम् ।
विवेद च न तन्मौनी जगृहेर्ऽघञ्च तं नृपः ॥३९॥
39. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca .
tataḥ sa cintayāmāsa rājā jāmātṛkāraṇam .
viveda ca na tanmaunī jagṛher'ghañca taṃ nṛpaḥ.
39. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca tataḥ saḥ cintayāmāsa rājā jāmātṛkāraṇam
vivēda ca na tat maunī jagṛhe argham ca tam nṛpaḥ
39. Mārkaṇḍeya said: Then the king pondered the reason for his status as son-in-law (jāmātṛ). However, the silent one (maunī) did not know that, and the king (nṛpaḥ) accepted that offering (argha).
