मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-106, verse-51

अपरे मौनिनो भूत्वा ऋग्जापेन तथापरे ।
यजुषामथ साम्नां च तोषयाञ्चक्रिरे रविम् ॥५१॥
51. apare maunino bhūtvā ṛgjāpena tathāpare .
yajuṣāmatha sāmnāṃ ca toṣayāñcakrire ravim.

yajuṣām atha sāmnām ca toṣayāñcakrire ravim
51. Others, observing a vow of silence, pleased the Sun god (Ravi) by chanting Ṛgveda hymns, while still others did so by chanting hymns from the Yajurveda and Sāmaveda.
