महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-32, verse-30

अति भूतानि तं शब्दं मेनिरेऽति च विव्यथुः ।
यानि चाप्लवसत्त्वानि प्रायस्तानि मृतानि च ॥३०॥
30. ati bhūtāni taṁ śabdaṁ menire'ti ca vivyathuḥ ,
yāni cāplavasattvāni prāyastāni mṛtāni ca.
30. ati bhūtāni tam śabdam menire ati ca vivyathuḥ
yāni ca āplavasattvāni prāyaḥ tāni mṛtāni ca
30. bhūtāni tam śabdam ati menire ca ati vivyathuḥ
ca yāni āplavasattvāni tāni prāyaḥ mṛtāni
30. All creatures considered that sound to be overwhelming and trembled excessively. And those aquatic beings, in particular, were mostly killed.
