महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-57, verse-79

तस्य तन्मतमाज्ञाय प्रीतः प्रादाद्वरं भवः ।
तच्च पाशुपतं घोरं प्रतिज्ञायाश्च पारणम् ॥७९॥
79. tasya tanmatamājñāya prītaḥ prādādvaraṁ bhavaḥ ,
tacca pāśupataṁ ghoraṁ pratijñāyāśca pāraṇam.
79. tasya tat matam ājñāya prītaḥ prādāt varam bhavaḥ
tat ca pāśupatam ghoram pratijñāyāḥ ca pāraṇam
79. tasya tat matam ājñāya,

79. Knowing his (Arjuna's) resolve (mata), Bhava (Shiva), being pleased, bestowed that boon (vara) — the terrible Pāśupata (weapon) — and the fulfillment of the vow (pratijñā).
