बृहत्-पाराशर-होरा-शास्त्रम्       bṛhat-pārāśara-horā-śāstram - chapter-43, verse-9

अस्तगस्तु हरेत्स्वार्ध विना शुक्रशनैश्चरौ ।
वक्रचारं विना त्र्यांशां शज्ञुराशौ हरेद् ग्रहः ॥९॥
9. astagastu haretsvārdha vinā śukraśanaiścarau .
vakracāraṃ vinā tryāṃśāṃ śajñurāśau hared grahaḥ.
9. astagaḥ tu haret svārdham vinā śukraśanaiścarau
vakracāram vinā tryaṃśām śajñurāśau haret grahaḥ
9. A planet (graha) that is combust (astaga) should lose half of its (allotted) years, except for Venus and Saturn. A planet (graha) should deduct one-third (of its years) if it is in retrograde motion (vakracāra), and if it is situated in an enemy's sign.
