When a planet (kheṭa) is situated in both types of places (e.g., exaltation and own sign), the calculation (kārya) should indeed be threefold. If there are two decrements (hāni), then only half of that decrement should apply. Thus, the precise longevity (āyu) of human beings (nṛṇām) is determined.
