Some (ke'pi) experts (kovidāḥ) thus (iti) consider (icchanti) the life-span (āyus) of the ascendant (lagna) to be years (abdāḥ) equal to the number of the ascendant sign (rāśi-samāḥ), and (ca) months and so on (māsādikāḥ) proportionally (anupātataḥ) according to degrees (bhāga) and so on.
