Having multiplied (hatvā) the arc minutes of the ascendant's degree (lagnāṃśaliptikā) individually (pratyekam) by the life-span (āyus) of each planet (vihaga), the result should be divided (bhājyā) by the total arc minutes of a circle (maṇḍalaliptābhiḥ). The obtained (labdha) quotient should then be refined (śodhayet) into years and so on (varṣādi).
