मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-113, verse-64

मुदावत्यास्ततो नाम नागराजस्तदाकरोत् ।
सुनन्दामिति सानन्दं सौनन्दगुणजं द्विज ॥६४॥
64. mudāvatyāstato nāma nāgarājastadākarot .
sunandāmiti sānandaṃ saunandaguṇajaṃ dvija.
64. mudāvatyāḥ tataḥ nāma nāgarājaḥ tadā akarot |
sunandām iti sa ānandam saunanda guṇajam dvija
64. O Dvija, the Nāgarāja (Sheṣa) then joyfully gave Mudāvatī the name "Sunandā", a name born of excellent qualities (related to her pleasing nature).
