मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-113, verse-53

ततः स गत्वा युयुधे मुसलेनासुरेश्वरः ।
व्यर्था मुशलपातास्ते संजग्मुस्तेषु शत्रुषु ॥५३॥
53. tataḥ sa gatvā yuyudhe musalenāsureśvaraḥ .
vyarthā muśalapātāste saṃjagmusteṣu śatruṣu.

vyarthāḥ muśalapātāḥ te saṃjagmuḥ teṣu śatruṣu
53. Then, having advanced, that lord of asuras fought with a mace. However, those mace-blows were ineffective; they merely struck his enemies.
