मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-113, verse-54

परमास्त्रे तु निर्वीर्ये सौनन्दे मुशले मुने ।
अस्त्रैः शस्त्रैश्च दैतेयः सोऽयुध्यत रणेऽरिणा ॥५४॥

astraiḥ śastraiśca daiteyaḥ so'yudhyata raṇe'riṇā.
54. paramāstre tu nirvīrye saunande muśale mune astraiḥ
śastraiḥ ca daiteyaḥ saḥ ayudhyata raṇe ariṇā
54. But, O sage (muni), when the supreme weapon, the Saunanda mace, had become ineffective, that demon (daiteya) fought with his enemy (ari) in battle (raṇa) using both missile weapons and hand-held weapons.
