मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-6, verse-45

नाभिनन्देत मरणं नाभिनन्देत जीवितम ।
कालमेव प्रतीक्षेत निर्वेशं भृतको यथा ॥४५॥
45. nābhinandeta maraṇaṁ nābhinandeta jīvitam ,
kālameva pratīkṣeta nirveśaṁ bhṛtako yathā.
45. na abhinandet maraṇam na abhinandet jīvitam
kālam eva pratīkṣeta nirveśam bhṛtakaḥ yathā
45. One should not welcome death, nor should one welcome life. One should simply await the time, like a servant awaiting payment.
