महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-43, verse-20

युधिष्ठिरं पाण्डवेयं हतेति भरतर्षभ ।
संचोदयत्यसौ कर्णो धार्तराष्ट्रान्महाबलान् ॥२०॥
20. yudhiṣṭhiraṁ pāṇḍaveyaṁ hateti bharatarṣabha ,
saṁcodayatyasau karṇo dhārtarāṣṭrānmahābalān.
20. yudhiṣṭhiram pāṇḍaveyam hata iti bharatarṣabha
asau karṇaḥ dhārtarāṣṭrān mahābalān saṃcodayati
20. bharatarṣabha asau karṇaḥ yudhiṣṭhiram pāṇḍaveyam
hata iti (matvā) mahābalān dhārtarāṣṭrān saṃcodayati
20. O best among the Bhāratas (bharatarṣabha)! This Karṇa is inciting the immensely powerful sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, believing that Yudhiṣṭhira, son of Pāṇḍu, has been slain.
