महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-102, verse-69

अद्यैव पश्य दुर्धर्षं पात्यमानं महाव्रतम् ।
तारापतिमिवापूर्णमन्तकाले यदृच्छया ॥६९॥
69. adyaiva paśya durdharṣaṁ pātyamānaṁ mahāvratam ,
tārāpatimivāpūrṇamantakāle yadṛcchayā.

69. Behold today itself the formidable warrior, who has taken a great vow (mahāvratam), being struck down, just like the waning moon (tārāpati) at the time of its destruction (antakāle), by chance.
