महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-221, verse-73

ब्रह्मदत्तवरः स्कन्द त्वयायं महिषो हतः ।
देवास्तृणमया यस्य बभूवुर्जयतां वर ।
सोऽयं त्वया महाबाहो शमितो देवकण्टकः ॥७३॥
73. brahmadattavaraḥ skanda tvayāyaṁ mahiṣo hataḥ ,
devāstṛṇamayā yasya babhūvurjayatāṁ vara ,
so'yaṁ tvayā mahābāho śamito devakaṇṭakaḥ.
73. brahmadattavaraḥ skanda tvayā ayam
mahiṣaḥ hataḥ devāḥ tṛṇamayāḥ yasya
babhūvuḥ jayatām vara saḥ ayam
tvayā mahābāho śamitaḥ devakaṇṭakaḥ
73. O Skanda, you are endowed with a boon granted by Brahma. By you, this buffalo demon was slain. Before him, even the gods had become as insignificant as straw, O best among victors, so great was his power. Now, O mighty-armed one, you have vanquished this thorn in the side of the gods.
