महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-221, verse-60

तथाभूते तु भगवान्नावधीन्महिषं रणे ।
सस्मार च तदा स्कन्दं मृत्युं तस्य दुरात्मनः ॥६०॥
60. tathābhūte tu bhagavānnāvadhīnmahiṣaṁ raṇe ,
sasmāra ca tadā skandaṁ mṛtyuṁ tasya durātmanaḥ.
60. tathābhūte tu bhagavān na avadhīt mahiṣaṃ raṇe
sasmāra ca tadā skandaṃ mṛtyuṃ tasya durātmanaḥ
60. But while such a situation prevailed, the Lord (Rudra) did not kill the buffalo (demon) in battle. And then he remembered Skanda, the destined destroyer of that wicked one.
