महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-190, verse-74

मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
एवमुक्तो वामदेवेन राजन्नन्तःपुरे राजपुत्रं जघान ।
स सायकस्तिग्मतेजा विसृष्टः श्रुत्वा दलस्तच्च वाक्यं बभाषे ॥७४॥
74. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca ,
evamukto vāmadevena rāja;nnantaḥpure rājaputraṁ jaghāna ,
sa sāyakastigmatejā visṛṣṭaḥ; śrutvā dalastacca vākyaṁ babhāṣe.
74. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca evam uktaḥ vāmadevena
rājan antaḥpure rājaputraṃ jaghāna
saḥ sāyakaḥ tigmatejāḥ visṛṣṭaḥ
śrutvā dalaḥ tat ca vākyaṃ babhāṣe
74. Mārkaṇḍeya said: 'O king, thus addressed by Vāmadeva, the king killed the prince in the inner chambers. As that sharp-pointed arrow was released, Dala (the essence of the prince now dwelling in the arrow), having heard that command, spoke.'
