Then (atha), upon a thick (pīne) stone slab (śilātale) in the midst (madhyastham) of the banana forest (kadalīvana), the mighty-armed (mahābāhuḥ) Bhīmasena saw (saḥ dadarśa) the lord of monkeys (vānarādhipatim) standing (sthitam).
