महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-49, verse-4

उग्रं तपः समातिष्ठत्सहस्राक्षसमो भुवि ।
पुत्रं लभेयमजितं त्रिलोकेश्वरमित्युत ॥४॥
4. ugraṁ tapaḥ samātiṣṭhatsahasrākṣasamo bhuvi ,
putraṁ labheyamajitaṁ trilokeśvaramityuta.

4. (Kuśika) undertook severe asceticism (tapas) on earth, rivaling Indra (Sahasrākṣa), with the thought, "May I obtain an invincible son, lord of the three worlds!"
