वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-6, chapter-31, verse-53

नूनमद्य गतो दर्पः स्वयम्भू वरदानजः ।
यस्य दण्डधरस्ते ऽहं दाराहरणकर्शितः ।
दण्डं धारयमाणस्तु लङ्काद्वरे व्यवस्थितः ॥५३॥
53. nūnamadya gato darpaḥ svayambhū varadānajaḥ ,
yasya daṇḍadharaste'haṃ dārāharaṇakarśitaḥ ,
daṇḍaṃ dhārayamāṇastu laṅkādvare vyavasthitaḥ.

53. Certainly, today the pride born of Brahmā's (svayambhū) boons is gone. For I, weakened by the abduction of my wife, am here as its wielder of punishment (daṇḍadharaḥ) for you. And I, bearing the staff of justice, stand at the gate of Laṅkā.
