वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-6, chapter-31, verse-43

वानरैर्बलवद्भिश्च बभूव द्रुमपाणिभिः ।
सर्वतः संवृता लङ्का दुष्प्रवेशापि वायुना ॥४३॥
43. vānarairbalavadbhiśca babhūva drumapāṇibhiḥ ,
sarvataḥ saṃvṛtā laṅkā duṣpraveśāpi vāyunā.
43. vānaraiḥ balavadbhiḥ ca babhūva drumapāṇibhiḥ
sarvataḥ saṃvṛtā laṅkā duṣpraveśā api vāyunā
43. laṅkā balavadbhiḥ drumapāṇibhiḥ vānaraiḥ ca sarvataḥ saṃvṛtā (sati) vāyunā api duṣpraveśā babhūva.
43. Lanka became completely enveloped on all sides by powerful monkeys (vanaras) with trees in their hands, making it difficult to enter even for the wind.
