मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-43, verse-26

आरक्ततामेति मुखं जिह्वा वा श्यामतां यदा ।
तदा प्राज्ञो विजानीयान्मृत्युमासन्नमात्मनः ॥२६॥
26. āraktatāmeti mukhaṃ jihvā vā śyāmatāṃ yadā .
tadā prājño vijānīyānmṛtyumāsannamātmanaḥ.
26. ārāktatām eti mukham jihvā vā śyāmatām yadā
tadā prājñaḥ vijānīyāt mṛtyum āsannam ātmanaḥ
26. When the face becomes excessively red, or the tongue turns black, then a wise person should understand that death is imminent for oneself (ātman).
