महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-60, verse-50

ऐरावतं समारुह्य स्वयं मायामयं कृतम् ।
तस्य चान्येऽपि दिङ्नागा बभूवुरनुयायिनः ॥५०॥
50. airāvataṁ samāruhya svayaṁ māyāmayaṁ kṛtam ,
tasya cānye'pi diṅnāgā babhūvuranuyāyinaḥ.

tasya ca anye api dik-nāgāḥ babhūvuḥ anuyāyinaḥ
50. svayam māyāmayam kṛtam airāvatam samāruhya,

50. Having mounted Airāvata, which he himself had created through illusion (māyā), other directional elephants (dig-nāga) also became his followers.
