महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-60, verse-40

त एनं शरवर्षेण समन्तात्पर्यवारयन् ।
गजं च शरवृष्ट्या तं बिभिदुस्ते समन्ततः ॥४०॥
40. ta enaṁ śaravarṣeṇa samantātparyavārayan ,
gajaṁ ca śaravṛṣṭyā taṁ bibhiduste samantataḥ.

40. They (the warriors) surrounded him (the elephant) from all sides with a shower of arrows. And they pierced that elephant from all sides with a rain of arrows.
