योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-5, chapter-82, verse-63

ईश्वरो नेदृशः शोच्यो यस्त्वया सदृशो भवेत् ।
न च तस्य कृतेनार्थो नाकृतेनेह कश्चन ॥ ६३ ॥
īśvaro nedṛśaḥ śocyo yastvayā sadṛśo bhavet ,
na ca tasya kṛtenārtho nākṛteneha kaścana 63
63. īśvaraḥ na īdṛśaḥ śocyaḥ yaḥ tvayā sadṛśaḥ bhavet
na ca tasya kṛtena arthaḥ na akṛtena iha kaścana

ca tasya kṛtena arthaḥ na akṛtena iha kaścana
63. The Lord (īśvara) is not to be pitied in such a way that he would be like you. For him, there is no purpose (artha) whatsoever in what is done, nor in what is not done in this world (iha).
