मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-61, verse-27

विभ्रष्टपादलेपोऽथ चिरेण जडितक्रमः ।
चिन्तयामास किमिदं मयाज्ञानादनुष्ठितम् ॥२७॥
27. vibhraṣṭapādalepo'tha cireṇa jaḍitakramaḥ .
cintayāmāsa kimidaṃ mayājñānādanuṣṭhitam.
27. vibhraṣṭa-pāda-lepaḥ atha cireṇa jaḍita-kramaḥ
cintayāmāsa kim idam mayā ajñānāt anuṣṭhitam
27. Then, as his foot-ointment had worn off, and his movements became stiff after a long time, he pondered, 'What is this that I have done out of ignorance?'
