महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-45, verse-44

ते वध्यमानाः समरे सूतपुत्रेण सृञ्जयाः ।
अर्जुनं वासुदेवं च व्याक्रोशन्त मुहुर्मुहुः ।
प्रेतराजपुरे यद्वत्प्रेतराजं विचेतसः ॥४४॥
44. te vadhyamānāḥ samare sūtaputreṇa sṛñjayāḥ ,
arjunaṁ vāsudevaṁ ca vyākrośanta muhurmuhuḥ ,
pretarājapure yadvatpretarājaṁ vicetasaḥ.

44. The Sṛñjayas, being slain in battle by Karṇa (the son of Sūta), repeatedly cried out to Arjuna and Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa), just as bewildered people (vicetasaḥ) in the city of the lord of the departed (pretarājapura) cry out to the lord of the departed (pretarāja) himself.
