The virtuous (santaḥ) are the refuge (gatiḥ) for those who possess self-knowledge (ātmavatām). Indeed, the virtuous alone are the refuge for other virtuous individuals. Moreover, the virtuous are also a refuge for the wicked (asatām), but the wicked are certainly not a refuge for the virtuous.
