महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-116, verse-57

क्रिया ह्येवं न हीयन्ते पितृदैवतसंश्रिताः ।
प्रीयन्ते पितरश्चैव न्यायतो मांसतर्पिताः ॥५७॥

57. kriyā hyevaṁ na hīyante pitṛdaivatasaṁśritāḥ ,
prīyante pitaraścaiva nyāyato māṁsatarpitāḥ.

57. Indeed, in this manner, the rites (kriyā) dedicated to ancestors and deities are not diminished. And the ancestors, when duly gratified with meat offerings, are pleased.
