महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-116, verse-18

सर्वे वेदा न तत्कुर्युः सर्वयज्ञाश्च भारत ।
यो भक्षयित्वा मांसानि पश्चादपि निवर्तते ॥१८॥

18. O Bhārata, all the Vedas and all Vedic rituals (yajñas) would not accomplish that (merit) which is attained by one who, even after consuming meat, subsequently abstains from it.
