यस्माद्ग्रसति चैवायुर्हिंसकानां महाद्युते ।
तस्माद्विवर्जयेन्मांसं य इच्छेद्भूतिमात्मनः ॥३१॥

Because it consumes the very life of those who cause harm, O greatly radiant one, therefore, whoever desires their own well-being (ātman) should abstain from meat.
