महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-68, verse-27

एकोऽहमस्मीति च मन्यसे त्वं न हृच्छयं वेत्सि मुनिं पुराणम् ।
यो वेदिता कर्मणः पापकस्य तस्यान्तिके त्वं वृजिनं करोषि ॥२७॥
27. eko'hamasmīti ca manyase tvaṁ; na hṛcchayaṁ vetsi muniṁ purāṇam ,
yo veditā karmaṇaḥ pāpakasya; tasyāntike tvaṁ vṛjinaṁ karoṣi.
27. ekaḥ aham asmi iti ca manyase tvam
na hṛcchayam vetsi munim purāṇam
yaḥ veditā karmaṇaḥ pāpakasya
tasya antike tvam vṛjinam karoṣi
27. You think, 'I am alone,' and you do not know the ancient sage residing in your heart. You commit evil in the presence of that one who is the knower of sinful karma.
