महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-19, verse-38

स च तं प्रतिविव्याध नवभिर्निशितैः शरैः ।
सारथिं चास्य भल्लेन भृशं क्रुद्धोऽभ्यताडयत् ॥३८॥
38. sa ca taṁ prativivyādha navabhirniśitaiḥ śaraiḥ ,
sārathiṁ cāsya bhallena bhṛśaṁ kruddho'bhyatāḍayat.

sārathim ca asya bhallena bhṛśam kruddhaḥ abhyatāḍayat
38. ca saḥ tam navabhiḥ niśitaiḥ śaraiḥ prativivyādha ca
kruddhaḥ bhṛśam asya sārathim bhallena abhyatāḍayat
38. And he (Duryodhana) struck him (Yudhiṣṭhira) back with nine sharp arrows. Greatly enraged, he also forcefully struck Yudhiṣṭhira's charioteer with a broad-headed arrow.
