महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-19, verse-67

संसक्तेषु च योधेषु वर्तमाने च संकुले ।
कबन्धान्युत्थितानि स्म शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः ॥६७॥
67. saṁsakteṣu ca yodheṣu vartamāne ca saṁkule ,
kabandhānyutthitāni sma śataśo'tha sahasraśaḥ.

67. As the warriors were engaged and the tumult (saṃkula) was ongoing, headless trunks (kabandha) rose up by hundreds and thousands.
