महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-19, verse-17

ततः सुनिशितैर्बाणै राज्ञस्तस्य महच्छिरः ।
कुण्डलोपचितं कायाच्चकर्त पृतनान्तरे ॥१७॥
17. tataḥ suniśitairbāṇai rājñastasya mahacchiraḥ ,
kuṇḍalopacitaṁ kāyāccakarta pṛtanāntare.

17. Then, with very sharp arrows, he severed the great head of that king, adorned with earrings, from his body in the midst of the army.
