महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-19, verse-30

निहतै राजपुत्रैश्च क्षत्रियैश्च महाबलैः ।
हस्तिभिः पतितैश्चैव तुरगैश्चाभवन्मही ।
अगम्यमार्गा समरे विशीर्णैरिव पर्वतैः ॥३०॥
30. nihatai rājaputraiśca kṣatriyaiśca mahābalaiḥ ,
hastibhiḥ patitaiścaiva turagaiścābhavanmahī ,
agamyamārgā samare viśīrṇairiva parvataiḥ.

30. The ground became impassable in battle, due to the slain princes and mighty kṣatriyas, and also due to fallen elephants and horses, resembling scattered mountains.
