महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-31, verse-69

एवमेष महारौद्रः क्षयार्थं सर्वधन्विनाम् ।
तावकानां परेषां च त्यक्त्वा प्राणानभूद्रणः ॥६९॥
69. evameṣa mahāraudraḥ kṣayārthaṁ sarvadhanvinām ,
tāvakānāṁ pareṣāṁ ca tyaktvā prāṇānabhūdraṇaḥ.
69. evam eṣaḥ mahāraudraḥ kṣayārtham sarvadhanvinām
tāvakānām pareṣām ca tyaktvā prāṇān abhūt raṇaḥ
69. evam eṣaḥ mahāraudraḥ raṇaḥ tāvakānām pareṣām ca
sarvadhanvinām kṣayārtham prāṇān tyaktvā abhūt
69. Thus, this exceedingly dreadful battle (raṇa) occurred, for the destruction of all archers, both from your side and from the enemy's, as they fought having abandoned their very lives (prāṇa).
