तद्विरुद्धमनादेयमुपेक्ष्यं मध्यमं विदुः ॥ २१ ॥

sanmate yat yat āhlādanakaram [bhavati],
tat ca ādeyam tat viruddham anādeyam upekṣyam madhyamam [iti] viduḥ

O good-minded one, whatever brings delight is to be accepted. That which is contrary to it is not to be accepted. Sages consider the disregarded category to be the middle one.
