आत्मभूतं प्रयत्नेन उपादेयं च साध्यते ।
हेयं संत्यज्यते ज्ञात्वा उपेक्ष्यं मध्यमेतयोः ॥ २० ॥

That which is assimilated as one's own self (ātman) and is to be accepted, is achieved with effort. That which is to be rejected is abandoned after understanding its nature. That which is to be disregarded is the middle ground between these two.
