वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-46, verse-49

एवं बहुविधं दीनं याचमानं पुनः पुनः ।
रामो भृत्यानुकम्पी तु सुमन्त्रमिदमब्रवीत् ॥४९॥
49. evaṃ bahuvidhaṃ dīnaṃ yācamānaṃ punaḥ punaḥ ,
rāmo bhṛtyānukampī tu sumantramidamabravīt.
49. evam bahuvidham dīnam yācamānam punaḥ punaḥ
rāmaḥ bhṛtyānukampī tu sumantram idam abravīt
49. evam bahuvidham dīnam punaḥ punaḥ yācamānam (sumantram prati),
bhṛtyānukampī rāmaḥ tu idam abravīt
49. While he (Sumantra) thus pleaded again and again in various piteous ways, Rama, who was compassionate towards his servants, spoke this to Sumantra.
